A LIST OF PRAYERS

Protective Blessing

This blessing is intentionally devoid of any religious affiliation, as it is
our view that each individual must, at such times, draw upon his/her own
faith or source of inner strength.

Upon entering the site of a paranormal investigation, particularly where a
hostile entity has manifested, it is advisable for the participants of the
investigation to initiate a protective, "psychic shield."

One brief method of doing this is to have the participants gather in a
circle, perhaps touching hands, while one of them intones the following
blessing, or words to this effect:

"As we enter this place where impressions of the past are trapped and
associations linger, let us do so with the assurance that we are guarded by
the Power which proceeds from forthright and peaceful intent. We envision a
white radiance encircling us, fortifying us and protecting us from any harm
or distraction in our purpose this day."

Prayer to Defeat the Work of Satan

O Divine Eternal Father, in union with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit,
and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg You to destroy the Power of
your greatest enemy -- the evil spirits.

Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell and chain them there forever!
Take possession of your Kingdom which You have created and which is
rightfully yours.

Heavenly Father, give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the
Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I repeat this prayer out of pure love for You with every beat of my heart
and with every breath I take.

When Using Holy Water

By this holy water and by Your Precious Blood, wash away all my sins,
O Lord.

St. Theresa of Avila on holy water: "From long experience I have learned
that there is nothing like holy water to put devils to flight and prevent
them from coming back again. They also flee from the cross, but return; so
holy water must have great value."

Holy water is a means of spiritual wealth -- a sacramental that remits
venial sin. The Church strongly urges its use, especially when dangers
threaten. The devil hates holy water because of its power over him. He
cannot long abide in a place or near a person that is often sprinkled with
this blessed water.

For the Most Forgotten Soul

O Lord God Almighty, I beseech Thee by the Precious Body and Blood of Thy
divine Son Jesus, which He Himself on the night before His Passion gave as
meat and drink to His beloved Apostles and bequeathed to His Holy Church to
be the perpetual Sacrifice and life-giving nourishment of His faithful
people, deliver the souls in purgatory, but most of all, that soul which was
most devoted to this Mystery of infinite love, in order that it may praise
Thee therefor, together with Thy Divine Son and the Holy Spirit in Thy glory
for ever.

Amen.

For Those Who Suffer

For those who suffer,
and those who cry this night,
give them repose, Lord;
a pause in their burdens.
Let there be minutes
where they experience peace,
not of man
but of angels.
Love them, Lord,
when others cannot.
Hold them, Lord,
when we fail with human arms.
Hear their prayers
and give them the ability to hear You back
in whatever language they best understand.

House Blessing

Prayer for the Home

Visit, we beseech Thee, O Lord, this dwelling, and drive far from it all
snares of the enemy; let Thy holy Angels dwell herein, to preserve us in
peace; and let Thy blessing be upon us forever. Through Christ our Lord.

Prayer Against Satan and the Rebellious Angels

The following is a simple exorcism prayer that can be said by priests or
laity. The term "exorcism" does NOT always denote a solemn exorcism
involving a person possessed by the devil. In general, the term denotes
prayers to "curb the power of the devil and prevent him from doing harm." As
St. Peter had written in Holy Scripture, "your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour." (1Peter 5:8)

The Holy Father exhorts priests to say this prayer as often as possible, as
a simple exorcism to curb the power of the devil and prevent him from doing
harm. The faithful also may say it in their own name, for the same purpose,
as any approved prayer. Its use is recommended whenever action of the devil
is suspected, causing malice in men, violent temptations and even storms and
various calamities. It could be used as a solemn exorcism (an official and
public ceremony, in Latin), to expel the devil. It would then be said by a
priest, in the name of the Church and only with a Bishop's permission.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

Most glorious Prince of the Heavenly Armies, Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in "our battle against principalities and powers, against the
rulers of this world of darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the
high places" (Eph., VI,12). Come to the assistance of men whom God has
created to His likeness and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the
tyranny of the devil. Holy Church venerates thee as her guardian and
protector; to thee, the Lord has entrusted the souls of the redeemed to be
led into heaven. Pray therefore the God of Peace to crush Satan beneath our
feet, that he may no longer retain men captive and do injury to the Church.
Offer our prayers to the Most High, that without delay they may draw His
mercy down upon us; take hold of "the dragon, the old serpent, which is the
devil and Satan", bind him that he may no longer seduce the nations"
(Apoc. XX,2).
